A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to a woman and her partner before, during, and after childbirth. The term “doula” comes from the ancient Greek word for “female servant,” and the role of the doula is to serve the mother and her partner throughout the birthing process.

Pregnancy

Provide evidenced based facts to help the birthing woman and partner to understand risks and benefits before making decisions. 

Labor & Birth

Providing non-medical support and work alongside the medical professionals who are attending the birth. Assisting with relaxation and breathing exercises, and pain management strategies. I also help the mother advocate for herself with the medical team.

Postpartum Support

Providing support in the postpartum period, helping with breastfeeding, newborn care, and adjusting to life with a new baby. Also providing emotional and practical support to help mother and partner have a positive birth experience and healthy transition into parenthood.
